These terms apply to ascenovastudios.com, the Ascenova newsletter, and music submissions to Ascenova Studios ("we," "us"), based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. By using the site, subscribing, or submitting music, you agree to these terms.
1. Who can use our services
You must be at least 13. If you're under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms, including any paid subscription.
2. The newsletter subscription
- Price & founding rate: The newsletter costs $6 USD per month, plus any applicable taxes. It's paid only; there's no free tier.
- Founding members: subscribers who join during launch week, or among the first 350 subscribers (whichever ends first), pay $5 USD per month instead. The founding rate stays locked for as long as the subscription remains active. If a founding member cancels and later resubscribes, the regular price applies. The founding rate is non-transferable.
- Waitlist members get 48-hour early access to founding spots before they open to the public. Early access doesn't guarantee a spot; founding spots are limited and claimed in order of signup.
- Founders' Community: founding members get access to a private online community. It's a perk, not part of the paid newsletter, and may change over time. Members are expected to be respectful; we may remove anyone who harasses others, spams, or breaks these terms. Access ends if your founding membership ends.
- Free trial: when available, new subscribers at the regular price may get a 7-day free trial. Founding memberships don't include a trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, you'll be charged automatically and your subscription will renew every month.
- Auto-renewal: Your subscription renews each month and is charged to your payment method on file until you cancel.
- Cancellation: You can cancel anytime from your account settings or by emailing hello@ascenovastudios.com. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current paid month, and you won't be charged again. To avoid any charge, cancel before your free trial ends, if you have one.
- Refunds: Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we don't offer refunds or credits for partial months. If you were charged in error (for example, a duplicate charge), email us within 30 days and we'll fix it.
- Price changes: We may change the price in the future. We'll email you at least 30 days before any change takes effect, and you can cancel before then. Founding-rate subscribers keep their rate as long as their subscription stays active.
- Personal use: Your subscription is for you. Please don't share login access, or republish or resell newsletter content, without our permission.
3. Music submissions
Submitting music is free. Features are our editorial choice and can't be bought. Submitting doesn't guarantee a feature, a response, or any outcome. By submitting, you confirm the music is yours and you have the rights to share it, and you allow Ascenova Studios to share your name, track link, artwork, and Instagram handle in the newsletter and on our channels if your music is featured. We won't publish your message without asking. You can ask us to remove a feature at any time by emailing hello@ascenovastudios.com. We'll remove it from our website and newsletter archive; emails already sent can't be recalled. We never publish your email address.
- You keep ownership. We don't claim any ownership of your music.
- Fair use of the form: Spam, abusive content, or content you don't have the rights to may be removed and the sender blocked.
4. Paid artist services
Separately from the free submission form, we offer paid services such as Instagram promotion packages and track feedback. These are arranged by email and covered by their own terms, invoice, or agreement. Paid Instagram promotions are labeled as paid partnerships (for example, "#ad").
5. Ads and sponsorships
The newsletter never includes paid artist placements; features are our editorial choice and can't be bought. The newsletter may occasionally include sponsors or affiliate links from non-music brands (like clothing or gear). These are always clearly labeled and never influence what we feature. Paid artist promotion is only offered on Instagram, separate from the newsletter, and is always labeled #ad or as a paid partnership.
6. Our content
The newsletter, website, writing, and branding belong to Ascenova Studios. Music, artwork, and other material from artists belong to their respective owners. You may share a link to our content, but please don't copy or republish it in full without permission.
7. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the site or newsletter: no hacking, scraping, spamming, or attempts to interfere with how they work. We may suspend or cancel access for anyone who breaks these terms.
8. No guarantees
Our services are provided "as is." We do our best to keep everything running and accurate, but we don't guarantee the site or newsletter will always be available or error-free.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Ascenova Studios isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Your consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the consumer protection laws where you live that can't be waived.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above, and notify subscribers by email of significant changes. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will be handled in the courts of British Columbia, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
